we set off after breakfast. after like soaking in sea water for a day and not bathing, we were sticky, salt has crystallised and we stank. but things worked out. we were brought to this even more ULU place, where we collected equipment to make a raft which MUST float in water. after lots of clove-hitches, half-hitches, round lashes and square lashes, we made the amundsen raft! we brought it to the quarry, pushed it inside, AND WE ALL JUMPED IN. it was simply BLISS!!!!! CLEAN, FRESH, SWEET-SMELLING water washed over us. we were simply elated. we bathed, cleaned, laughed and played in the quarry, and came out feeling so damn clean. that was my favourite part of the camp!!!! then, we kinda dismantled our raft, climbed out and dried in the sun. that was when i started tanning under the scorching sun!! at least i am not a bai2 zhan3 ji1 anymore.
then, we had lunch, and started trekking, to camp one, the bintan resort. elgene refused to tell us where we were going. she just gave us silva compasses, maps, and clues as to which were our stop points. from there, we were to navigate our way to our new campsite, which we found out later on to our delight, was CAMP 1!!!! yay!!!! BINTAN RESORT ON PULAU UBIN K!!! such an experience. i remember we were ooh-ing and aah-ing at all the lights, buildings and most importantly, TOILETS!!! it was the first sign of civilisation we had in DAYS. haha. and we were so glad to receive it! we pitched our tents on some flat ground outside the camp, but still accessible to toilets.
